About Mary

Mary tells us that her spontaneous and bold work embodies a very personal take on her beloved Cornwall and all things related to the coast and the sea.

Mary demonstrates this by using liberal layers of oil paint finishing with layers of oil glazes, the application of which produces the texture and tone that makes her work so appealing. The palette knife is her preferred tool - but hands and the odd kitchen utensil play their part, allowing the freedom to portray the wildness of the cornish coast in the most effective ways.

Mary works from her studio in a tiny hamlet between Penzance and Helston, near Prussia Cove. Her work is exhibited in selected galleries in Cornwall, and you may be lucky enough to catch one of her own shows.

Mary's work now sells all over the world, a reflection of her remarkable talent and also her pleasure in travelling around the world with her husband. The time then spent in her elegant and peaceful studio in Cornwall allows scenes and people to come alive in her hands.
